1. Knowing Yourself |
Summary of Module 1 |
First, know what you've got --
then make the most of it.
People do business. To succeed
in business you must succeed with people.
To succeed with people you must know and
understand people. To understand people
you must first know yourself. So
this module is about you.
Knowing yourself means
realizing, accepting and optimizing the
lifetime benefits you generate from the
following five key success factors -- KSFs:
1.1 the right DNA for the job |
People are
different -- you can see that. And their
genes are a large and very important
source of their differences. |
You are
different. Your unique genes have
expressed themselves through your
environment, your own nature through your
nurture. Your phenotype -- the way you
are, from your behavior to your appearance
-- depends largely on the way your
genotype--your genetic constitution--has
been expressed in that series of specific
environments that you have experienced in
your life to date. |
To succeed
in business, you shape your own phenotype.
To do that you need two things: you must
have what it takes -- the right DNA, your
genotype, your genetic makeup -- and
you must go to where you can make the most
of what you've got -- to your optimal
environment. MORE |

1.2 doing what you prefer to do |
To excel,
you need to do what you do best -- that
work for which you have innate natural
talents and aptitudes. |
1.3 working |
Your work is
among the most important things you do in
life. |
1.4 networking |
But as
important as what you know is who you
know. Success is a great network. |
1.5 profitably and ethically |
Your
business must consistently make profit
(or, more accurately, must generate
positive free cash flow) to thrive. Some
-- or all -- of this is your
responsibility. |
In your
final account you'll be remembered for
what you did and how you did it, not for
how much money you made. Make yours a
worthwhile journey. |
